Mel is a life long Washingtonian and damn proud of it. She taught herself to play piano at age 4 and started performing in talent shows in 2nd grade. In High School, she taught herself to play guitar. Her Senior year, Mel fronted and played guitar in her first band “Sick” and was no turning back.
Mel has a passion for stringed instruments and spent many years selling guitars and amplifiers. This is how she met her future band mates and found her calling in the Seattle metal scene. She fronted and played guitar in various lineups of hard rock/metal band Mass Knockout, as well as performing in multiple acoustic solo projects along the way. After Mass Knockout disbanded, she considered going solo permanently. That is, until she heard Testing Trinity was looking for a vocalist. The rest is history.
While she sites her musical influences as Micheal Jackson, Silverchair, The Foo Fighters and The Beach Boys-she is always in the mood for Iron Maiden, Death, Twelve Foot Ninja and Machine Head. Mel’s wide range of influences and appreciation for all types of music, make Testing Trinity a unique and versatile listening experience.
Mel likes to be camp, spend time with family, and endlessly drool over her ever expanding Beach Boys record/autograph collection.
